Embarking on a Journey

Dr. Heather Hunter originates from a small town just outside of Detroit, called Pontiac, MI. A very tight knit community where everyone knows you and your family. She ventured out and attended Central State University in Ohio, after she was offered a scholarship to play the flute in the marching band. It was here where she came out of her comfort zone and started to engage with people from diverse backgrounds. While there she joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. This time in her life was transformative and would forge her in a positive direction.

While at CSU, Dr. Hunter achieved a degree in Marketing and her sales career began. Years later, she found herself working for a major pharmaceutical company. She met with local medical doctors for a brief period and did very well for herself. However, after a candid conversation with a doctor, it became clear that she was playing for the wrong team. She enjoyed the idea of wellness and patient care, but in her view the drug industry made more profits from patients needing more pills. She just couldn’t believe the road to wellness meant longterm drug use. After a long look in the mirror and consulting with other healthcare fields, the only field that produced longterm wellness results without longterm drug use was Chiropractic.

Dr. Hunter’s mind was made up and her journey to become a Chiropractor brought her to Life University in Marietta, GA. Life University offers a dual degree masters program in Sports Health Science, which was of great interest to Dr. Hunter. She realized early that the body is complex and she wanted to gain a greater understanding of how to care for sports related injuries. She completed her Masters Degree of Sports Health Science with a concentration in Sports Injury Management concurrently with her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at Life University. She also did her internship at a Sports Chiropractic Clinic while in school to learn first hand how to manage individuals that want to lead an active lifestyle.

Chiropractic My Husband and Pregnancy!?

The first day of class she didn’t know anyone. Dr. Hunter spotted a gentleman classmate with a Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity bag and introduced herself, thinking they had common backgrounds. The friendship that started that day and would flourish. Dr. Adrian Hunter would years later become her husband. They married and started a family right away. It was while pregnant that Dr. Heather Hunter realized the huge benefit to having chiropractic care throughout the pregnancy.

Dr. Hunter recalls the growing pains, carpal tunnel, sciatica, low back pains, joint pain, hips and knees buckling out from under her that were either significantly reduced or eliminated completely under care. She became determined to let every mom or mom to be know they don’t have to be silent in misery. Although the medical community considered her high risk pregnancy, she delivered her son at 36 and her daughter at 38 years old……and her youngest son 40! Each of her children were allowed to enter the world without any drugs or medical intervention.

The wise learn Quickly!

Drs. Adrian and Heather waited a month before they took their son to see the chiropractor. He had trouble nursing on one side and his bowel movements were 3 days apart. Immediately after his first adjustment, he no longer struggled to nurse and his movements came every other feeding!

By the time their daughter came around, both Dr. Heather and Dr. Adrian had become Webster Technique Certified, through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, to care for pregnant mothers and babies. After their first experience, they learned their lesson and their daughter was adjusted within the first 24 hours! Both children consistently surpass their developmental milestones and as a parent, she realizes the value of regular chiropractic care of children.

Live Health and Wellness Actively

Dr. Hunter’s other interests include studying martial arts with her husband as well as amateur photography and videography. Dr. Heather believes that treating people well, living an active lifestyle, with proper nutrition, and regular chiropractic care is the formula to becoming the best you, you can be! She looks forward to working with you and your family.
